Famous? You may ask; I never heard of him!
The owner of Lump is even more famous, and his name is;
Pablo Diego José Francisco Paula Juan Nepomuceno Maria de los Remidios Cipriano de la Santisima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso. In short:
‘PABLO PICASSO’ 25 October 1881 - 8 April 1973
He painted, made sculptures, prints and fantastic ceramics. He was a
Set Designer for the Ballets Russe, a visual story teller and centuries ahead of his time. He was a classically trained Genius exploding with creative energy and an incredible open mind.
All the important Art Galleries around the World pride themselves to exhibit some of his works and I’m sure we all can recall one or more of his famous paintings.
But for me it’s the spontaneous fun, almost frivolous works of art he produced. Doodles on napkins for example, the whimsical works on paper and cartoon to entertain his children, the ceramics, the humour in his multi-media collages, his playful line drawings; those are the works I adore.
There is of course the sheer mind blowing volume of work he produced, its thought around 50,000 items. He was living art throughout his life, from the classical training by his father, through different stylistic periods, to the giant anti war cry visualising the horrors of ‘Guernica’, through to a simple line drawing of his Dachshund.
A Lump is in German a charming scoundrel, and we have two of those charming scoundrels, Fritz and Otto. Very helpful and valued team members of HAWKSHEAD and in charge of rabbit control. Otto has also ‘the eyes’ and is in charge of wooing Ladies. Just one look from him and your heart will melt, he turns over and you will give him a tummy rub. Works all the time 😉 for him!
